How a rear bag feels in your hand matters. A firm bag holds its shape and gives a stable base. A softer bag has more give when you squeeze it. Sling Steady lets you choose.

What SteadyFill is
Every Sling Steady bag ships filled with SteadyFill, a particulate fill material, and still weighs under 10 oz (Pro 9.5 oz, Sport 6.3 to 6.8 oz). You can add or remove it through hook-and-loop ports, so you set the firmness yourself.
How to adjust it
- Open the hook-and-loop port.
- To soften the bag, pour out a small amount of SteadyFill into a container. To firm it up, add fill back.
- Close the port fully and press the hook-and-loop closed along its length.
- Squeeze-test the bag in your hand, then try it under the stock in position.
Adjust a little at a time. It is easier to take a bit more out than to put it all back.
Firmer or softer?
- Firmer suits shooters who want the bag to hold its shape and stay put under the stock, and many find it easier for small, repeatable adjustments.
- Softer suits shooters who like more travel when they squeeze, or who shoot off uneven ground.
There is no single right answer. Try it at the range and keep what works for you.
Keep any fill you remove, so you can return the bag to its original firmness. More in our FAQ, or shop the Pro 9" and Sport 7".
